How To Prevent The Spread Of Lice In The Hair

It is very easy to spread head lice to another person, especially if you are in close contact with a person who has them. The best way to prevent the spread of lice is to treat them as soon as you notice them. It is best to check your child, especially if he or she has recently had head-to-head contact with a person who had lice. Once you’ve confirmed that your child has head lice, you can find the right hair lice treatment for your kids.

Clean your home thoroughly:

To prevent infestation, the first step is to clean your home thoroughly. Wash all bedding, clothes, and other items that have been in contact with infected people in hot water. Vacuum furniture, carpets, and car seats. If you find items that can’t be cleaned, place them in a sealed plastic bag. If the items were used more than two days before the treatment, they are unlikely to be infested. In addition, do not spray your house or possessions with insecticide. Consult a healthcare provider if you have questions.

Do combing:

One of the best treatments for lice in the hair is combing. It will take between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the length of the hair. If live lice are present after a few days of combing, you should repeat the combing session. You should repeat this process every three or four days for at least two weeks. You should also continue checking your child’s hair to ensure that there are no more nits.

Avoid sharing personal items and head-to-head contact:

There are many ways to prevent head lice in children. The first and most effective prevention method is to avoid sharing personal items and head-to-head contact. All household members should be treated if one member is exposed to head lice. Children should not share hats, hairbrushes, or stuffed animals. It is important to wash all personal items in hot water and dry them on a hot cycle. If the item cannot be washed, it should be put in a plastic bag for two weeks. Soaking hairbrushes in hot water can also kill lice.

Over-the-counter treatments:

While many of us think we know what to do if we discover lice in our hair, there are over-the-counter remedies for lice in the hair that have a high failure rate. These treatments include chick-Chack, hairsprays that contain coconut oil, and products made with olive oil or tea tree oil. However, even these home remedies have risks. These remedies are not regulated by the FDA and should not be used on babies and young children.
